Work With Us

With over 20,000 monthly readers, Travels with a Nine Year Old is one of the world’s most popular travel blogs to include children that aren’t cute orphans, annoying street sellers or colourful smilers, and indisputably the world’s most popular single parent travel blog.

Seriously! Cool, huh?

We routinely rank in the top 50 travel blogs worldwide on lists such as Invesp and the Indie Travel 100. I’m a Lonely Planet featured blogger, I’ve talked on the radio, and we’ve even been in the papers!

Our audience comes from around the world, but the majority of our readers are in the US. Some of them have kids, others don’t, but all the little devils like to travel.

ADVERTISING

Travels with a Nine Year Old has a three-month Alexa of around 90,000, a Google Page Rank of 4 and a Domain Authority of 52. But, to be honest, if you’ve got to this page, you probably have that information sitting in your toolbar anyway.

PR

Z and I enjoy working with selected PR partners who share our sense of adventure. We’ve worked with Visit Britain and China Odyssey Tours among others.

Over the next few months we will be in Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Israel, Turkey and Greece, and seeking partners in those countries.

We have fun. We write about it. You get exposure. It’s win-win.

BUT NOT ABOUT ANY OF THESE THINGS

Yes, I am female. Yes, I travel with a child. But no, I do not want to write about your baby cozy sleepsack, your travel delinter, your fantastic handwash liquid or your moneybelt underwear (see this post for more). Even if you give me one for free.

In fact, I’m a bit dubious about free stuff altogether. I don’t want your FREE content, even if it’s by “professional writers” and especially not if it’s “tailored to fit my narrative”. I’m a professional writer myself, you see, and my readers like the stuff I write.

Further, I really, really, really, really do not want your FREE infographic.

And, while we’re on the subject of FREE, I write for a living. That means that if you want me to write for your business, I will ask you to pay me. Even if you call it a “guest post”. In fact, especially if you call it a guest post.

WHICH BRINGS ME TO: WRITING COMMISSIONS

I’m a freelance copywriter and journalist, with a specialism in bars and cocktails and a sideline in travel. I also write reader-friendly SEO copy for websites.

You can see some of my writing here. It’s terribly workmanlike and well-behaved:

Bali for kids (JetStar Magazine)
Boats in Indonesia (Travelfish)
Singapore Cocktails (Diffordsguide/CLASS magazine)
Island-Hopping in Greece (Take the Family)
